2006 Christmas Lights
Our first year doing animated lighting and it was great. We had lots of compliments and lots of people stop by to see the lights. We gave out almost 2000 Candy Canes, met lots of folks from as far away as Colorado that came to see the lights. The neighborhood was a “light” with excitement and there wasn’t a night that we didn’t meet someone new. tara and I appriecaite all the comments and wishes. It was sad day when the lights went out for the last time for 2006, and it was even a sadder task to get all the lights down, But early in June I had them all put away and ready to set something up for July 4th
SO what is it all all about?
First:
Hi, and Welcome to Bill and tara’s Christmas Sound Of Light site.
Feel free to browse around,
and for those of you who are interested in Christmas Lights,
there will be several pages dedicated to this hobby as time permits.
Enjoy this site and Have a Very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
We Had 57,000 + lights in our Christmas display.
which was turn on for the first time on November 23, 2006.
The 60 plus minute display will run each night from
Thanksgiving through January 6th
from 5:30 PM to 10:30 PM weekdays
from 5:30 PM to 11:30 PM weekends
there is no charge for it,
but we do encourage you to bring a toy for a girl or boy for the Toys For Tots Campaign
The Lights are controlled via computer with LOR and timers.
All are synchronized to music which we broadcast over
our own low-power FM radio station 93.5.
We are located in Smyrna Georgia just outside of Atlanta.
We are proud to be a volunteer drop off point for TOYS FOR TOTS,
so bring down a gift for a girl or boy and drop it off and enjoy the light show.
For more information about TOYS FOR TOTS,
This is our first year with animated lights. Being the computer freak I am, this year I decided to take it a step further. So instead of just lights, this year there are a LOT of lights and they are synchronized to music.
The preparation work for the show started in January 2006, and I’ve spent hours building decorations, making and/or modifying electronic gizmos, and modifying equipment to synchronize over 50,000 lights to 1 and 1/2 hours of music.
The actual decorating started on OCT 1, 2006. This included a small temporary light display and decorations for Halloween. The setup of the Christmas display took another 10 days to complete
A 400 amp sub panel, with 28 20 amp breakers is controlled by a X10 (house automation) relay which turns everything on and off. The synchronization is done with a computer and 10 16 channel controllers.

Pictures of the christmas Display will be coming soon
I ran out during the rain and
quickly snapped a picture of the lights lit,
but the picture was just all white,
so I turned them down to Half brightness.
Better pictures will soon be here.
This picture is taken with no flash as well
